I was just wondering what kind of air pressure other people are running in the 3 mph classes in a 6 ply, 15.5/38 or a 16.9/38 firestone 151.

on my dc, which will pull 6500-8500 3 mph classes, we use 12-14 psi. dad's cc with 13.6, 4500-6500 3 mph, 12-14. we have found that too low hurts worse than to much.

Enough pressure so the tires don't squat and cause the drawbar hitch height to drop. Too loose and tire tread bars tend to fold over rather than bite in.

around 9-11 psi on a 20 inch hitch and a sled with alot of downpull, tracks should be flat if they are higher in the middle where you spin out raise the pressure

You"ll need to fill in which weight classes your pulling in. Each weight class usually requires a slightly different air pressure.

In 5500 I run 12-14 lbs. pressure, 6000 about 14lbs, 7000-7500 about 15-17 lbs. pressure. But like it was state above, look at your tracks at the end of the pull when you drive away from the sled. Crowning in the middle of the track means not enough air pressure, dishing in the middle means you have to much pressure. The pressures listed above are a starting point, your tracks will give you the best indicator of adjustments needed.

Forgot to mention, these pressures are on 16.9 x 38 tires. Different tire sizes can also require different pressures also.
