would putting a M&W add power governor on my antique M give me more power? Is it worth changing it. Or should I just change the spring in my stock governor and tweek it.

The M&W does not add anymore power to the tractor, I would say that it makes more of the power that the engine thus you get the most out of the engine. We have one in a Super H and it works very nice. it is extremly responsive to the slitest load change. For example if the tractor is in netural and you push the clutch in and then release it somewhat fast the engine will actually pic up alittle to even that load!! When pulling it really makes her go, and responds great to the stone boat.

Changing governors shouldnt add any horse power if your old one is functioning properly. The M&W and or Thompson Governors were installed to help tractors lug through tough field conditions. All gov. have "lag", the rpm at which the carb is all the way open. A stock gov. high idle maybe 1600rpm but full power may only be 1450-1500, a M&W will keep that number right at 1550-1600rpm. In stock pulling you end up pulling the motor all the way down to 500 -1000 if you power out so the carb should be maxed.
