I have a small 3 speed manual tranny that will fit were the hydrolic pump used to be on my Farmall H. My first ?, is this completely insane and second will the tractor tranny take the extra torque. I'm curious to see what everyone has to say about this.

What your describing, can be done. I used a 5 speed Mazda tranny, it fit well with a custom bracket to help hold it in place. Had 20 speeds forwards 5 reverse speeds. We never broke the tranny while running it, we actually twisted the input shaft we made to adapt the mazda shaft to the H input shaft splines in the clutch. the engine was in the 100 hp range at 540. I used it to slow down 5th gear to use it for open speed limit pulling. I know I ran it in low gear once, and it took me like, 5 minutes to travel 100 feet! LOL! Hope this helps, but yes, it can be done. CHad
