At least insist on tip over bars. The only time I saw a close to tip overbackwards was in a barnyard stock class. Control the RPM old fan blades get cracked and the last thing you need is a accident. Safety First Then we all can have fun.I am not against RPM. What I have seen is the tractors are not checked and not properly shielded. That is why I like the rules in ITPA(ILLINOIS ) Puting on a tractor pull takes a lot of good help. I would like to hear what people think we need for rules and safety standards on engines turning more than 15% over stock RPM. I know there are alot of people that want to turn some RPM. Why must they pull percentage? In my opinion a strict 1st gear rule will have to be enforced, this will even things out with the big h.p. tractors. Horse power doesn't mean a whole lot if you can't put it to the ground. I saw a super 99 GM pull in antique last year where this rule was enforced and he pulled about half the distance the JD R's and big Farmalls pulled.

Hear in Oregon the two main organizations allow any age tractor, 10% over rpm (I've never seen it checked), 5 mph, tractors can't pull in classes lighter than the model's "shipping weight", 1000 lb. increments from 3,000-19,000 lbs. and 21 inch drawbar. The majority of the tractors that show up are pre 1970 models. The few newer ones that show up don't seem to have an advantage. I kind of wish there would be some open classes, but then again not too many super hot tractors out here. The club I'm in Northwest Tractor Pullers Assoc. feels that fewer rules means more fun.
