I've heard that a distributor from a 292 inline 6 Chevy engine will fit an Oliver 77/88. Can anyone verify this? The old Super 77 has a miss and I'm looking to upgrade with an MSD distributor. Thanks in advance for any information.

A 292 dist. will fit. You will have to cut the housing off, since it is longer than an oliver and you will also have to cut the shaft off, redrill the role pin hole and put the oliver drive gear on it. The best dist to use is a later model V6 chevy dist. Hope this helps.

D Day;Get the Mfg make and mdl.# off of your dist. Take it to your local auto parts store and they can tell you real quick. I've had good luck with the local Carquest store. They seem to carry or can get parts for the older equip. Unless your dist is completely shot get an electronic conversion kit for it. Avail here under the parts link. LE
