I posted a question on another forum about what # Autolite plug I need and i got a big high tech answer about as useful as you know what on you know what kind of hog
I pull a WC alklis with a D17 combine engine I am running Champion J8C plugs
Saturday a well seasoned and successful AC puller told me I needed a longer reach plug for my engine than what I have now in order to get the spark closser to the chamber
He didn't promise massive hp gains just a little better performance
unfortunately he couldn't remember the Autolite #
I would appreciate any help from you AC guys to save a lot of trial and error finding th eright number Thanks

Ok, I'm stuck here at an auto parts store (I work here unfortunately) and the 3/8" reach Autolite is a 295. The 3/4" reach is a 64. This is for a D 17 HC gas. Straight out of the Autolite book...AC

It took almost 5 minutes to find the Autolite plugs and type this. 7/16 reach; MP4316, 4316 or 437 if you are a cheapskate. .472 reach; MP4092 or MP4093. 1/2 reach; 2634 A "big tech" answer is to assist choosing the correct plug. Whacking a piston into a plug gap. Or crusting up too long threads that extend into the combustion chamber should be avoided.

I would suggest Autolite 3116 - it"s hot and does the job for me on my JD A puller. If you have any trouble with fouling, use a double washer - sounds crazy but it transfers less into the block and more heat in the plug.

Well your best bet is to go to an auto parts store and talk to a parts guy that knows something about plugs, yes there are some out there, you'll need to know how much room you have for a longer plug.

Chances are you might have to go to a 14 MM plug but you can get an insert for that. Go back a few pages and you'll see a post that has a place to get them.

I went to a Bosch plug from a Champion that was running a little rich and had to put more fuel to it because it was too lean after putting in a Bosch.

I'm not running an Allis, just telling you what happened in my situation your's may be different.

I have a chart for different plugs but your JC8's aren't on it.

Hope this helps.

Jim

Autolites suck, try some ACs (AC Delco's). It's Allis Chalmers-stand proud brother!
