I posted this one the JD board but diddn't get any response so I'll try it here!!

I have a 1940 B that currently has a DLTX 10 carb on it, I am wondering if a DLTX 67 will fit without changing the manifold? Also will it help to increase HP? Or what can I do carb wise to improve performance for pulling. This is a stock engine.

The carb will fit without changing the manifold. But as for increasing HP, it shouldn't make much difference as long as your other carb was tuned properly. The best thing thing you could do without changing the pistons would be to find a heisler head, cold manifold and play with the timing. The heisler head will increase your compression and the manifold would keep your air/fuel mixture cool. Timing has a big effect on HP. I have a 39' that I've pulled in the past and it like the 40' are oddballs within the "B" series. My timing is not set by the timing marks on the fly wheel and it makes hand starting harder but gives it more power once its running.

Thanks for your reply 23046Bpuller. That is the kind of info I was looking for. I know that I could bore and stroke it and get a lot more HP but my pocketbook can't stand that right now. I will look for heisler head and cold manifold though. Thanks again for the tips.
