Iv'e been working on this carb and can't get it dialed in. The numbers on brass tag on the carb are 358095R91 what is this carb off of. When it is running at high rpm it runs great but when you idle it down it want to load up with fuel. then when you pull the throtle back it blows some blace smoke out and runs fine again. how can i get the air to fuel ratio dialed in.

Thanks, Miles

Turn the high speed crew until it is seated, and then turn it a full 3 turns out. This is the factory initial setting. There is a chance that you have the wrong metering stem, or the correct metering stem has been drilled out and allowing too much fuel to pass through. There is also a chance that needle and seat are not holding, or the float is improperly adjusted. The carb you have is not an H carb, but is very similar to what would have been on a super H, M, super M, etc. If you buy a kit, get one for a super H.

Could be the metering stem seal leaking too, letting leaking fuel dribble and get sucked up making it run richer than it should, but would show it to be a consistant rich condition.
