I'm adding 1 inch of stroke to my G crankshaft, and was looking for info on what lenght the rods need to be.If anyone has done this with a .250 overbore using D8 cat pistons I would like to hear how it works.I have seen a couple running this but have no info on rod lenght.Maybe ther is a better setup, I'm open to ideas.

ken..cat d8 pistons are 5.750..d9 are 6.250 which are .125 over stock g..have to bush up wrist pins..did a 1 inch g over winter with 60 rods and .125 over g pistons..head worked on with big valves and porting and milled down to swirl..cut pistons off to get 10:1 compression..made 71 hp..lynn

John..its runs 72 hp..all are checked at 535 rpm on the dyno..5 7/8 x 8 3/8..9.5:1..this figures .159 hp per cubic inch..the g we did over the wintere made .145.. the a's and g's i've done with high compression make between .140 and .150..had a cam ground and degreed when i installed might have made some differance or everything just worked better to make the differance..lynn

Thanks for the info i was told wrong on the cat piston size.I hate to ask so many questions but nobody around here knows much about stroking cranks including me. If you move the rod journal back 1 inch it,s going to push the piston 1 inch further up and 1 inch further back so are you adding 1 inch or 2 inches of stroke. Any info would be helpful.
