I looked for those pistons a few years back. Don"t know of any new ones out there. Napa ran out several years back. you"ll have to search the boneyards, or have someone make you pistons. I can get you custom ones fairly reasonable as I"m getting a couple dozen 5.75" and 6.125" pistons made for the B"s. Send me what you want for pistons and how many you need and I"ll see what I can do for you.
- Compression height
- Pin dia
- # of rings
- ring thickness
- Overall height

I wouldn't bet they would be cheap. My old man put one of those 478 v-6's in a '65 ford 1 ton. thing pulled like a D-9 Cat. He went thru u-joints about every two weeks. Anyway, it got parked for some reason, I don't remember why. He told me that just a gasket set for it was $900. And that was back probably around 1980. Still have it, that was one pullin engine. not sure about the 478 pistons but the ones for the 305V6 are a big heavy pig, heavier than I would prefer, thick top and skirt

I talked to one guy sad they were short and light, compared to a 504 Case.

The only 504 Case pistons would be cupped for direct injection and with the steel ring insert they are heavy, what bore is the 478, 504 Case is 4 5/8 but there is other options for 4 5/8 bore unless you are building a dsl.

478 are 5.125 bore, building gas or allky non turbo.Looking for at least 5" bore for case, need piston and sleeve combination that works.

friend of mine has 5 1/8 in a 930 block, he used steel sleeves but with that much bore it is prone to develope hot spots, he did and scuffed a sleeve but at 800 plus cubes at 3000rpm it is very impressive, use a regular sleeve if you can
