Running a stock Farmall M. Run in 6500 and 7500lb classes. Usually in the top 5 in both classes anywhere from 1'st to 5'th, sometimes lower. Depends what tractors show up some we all know are not stock but nothings checked on the tractors around here at the pulls just show up, weigh and pull. Want to give the 5500lb class a shot and see what happens. Never tried that class before so trying to decide what gear to pull in. Going to be a stone dust track. On clay would use 1'st for sure. What gear do you guys pull in? Been thinking maybe 2'nd so tractor won't spin out as fast at the lighter weight. Don't want to run out of power either. What do you think or have seen M's do in that class? Would appericate any advice you could give except to go green, beat enough of them tractors already lol. Thanks Terry

Hi everybody thanks for your input. I was test puller in the 5500lb class so tried 2'nd gear. Spun all the way down the track. Took a second pull used 2'nd again spun down the track and spun out. In 6500lb class used 1'st gear, spun out at the end of the pull. Track was real loose stone dust. Got my butt kicked bad in both classes by most of the 77, 770, 880 Olivers. The speed they could run at the higher gears and rpm gave them a real advantage on that track. Next pull will be on clay so that will be 1'st gear for sure. The M usually does well on the harder pulling clay tracks then them loose tracks for some reason. If get butt kicked again then will know them green machines got fixed up real well over the winter and it will be time to go at the M and build it up for some more cubes, hp, whatever info I can find on here. Thanks again
