Hello,

I have a stock 1946 Farmall H that I want to start pulling with, and I have the chance to get a set of 15.5 x 38 rear tires Cheap and they are nearly new, but I only have 12 inch rims. How well will those tires work on those rims for tractor pulling? Or is it a big no no to put that big of a tire on that small of a rim? Also where is a good place to get a set of wheelie bars? Or get plans for ones?

Thanks,
Nick

I wouldn't say you don't need them for an H but a stock H I wouldn't bother. I pull a stock H and it's a strong tractor for what it is and I use 12.4 and 11.2's. 11's or 12's are better if it's not real big on power but I pull on hard clay.

Hello Nick, I pull a Farmall H with old worn down to bare casings radial 15.5-38's, but I think I got 11" rims. Umm, I bought the tractor with them on it, so I am not sure. I think you would have to do your own homework by taking measurements of those tires and calling a tire dealer to make sure. On a clay track I have found the 15.5 tires get more than enough traction for the power, which I suppose isn't a bad thing, except that extra rubber might hurt you by being too heavy for some classes. I am about to try some nearly new full tread bias ply 12.4-38s in a pull Sunday. I like the 15.5s on sand and crushed stone tracks. Most everybody makes up their own setup when it comes to hitches and wheelie bars, but unless the particular pull you go to requires wheelie bars, then I would forget them, you don't need them for an H.
