Mr Goldsburg
Decided to take your advice on the copper head gasket and got a custom Lubbock composite gasket. What do you recomend if anything to coat or seal this gasket with? I have some hylomar and I could get copper coat too if needed. Tried the hylomar on my copper gasket while I was waiting on the Lubbock, much better but still getting a little water in the oil. Hoping the Lubbock composite will cure this. I'd appreciate your advice.

Flogger -

I have always ran the Lubbock gaskets dry. There have even been times (in a pinch) that I have had to re-use them, but on my own engines only! I have unfortunately had to re-use one gasket three times! By the fourth time rolled around my new one had arrived, so the used one got hung on a nail for a spare! I have used the Lubbock gaskets in engines up to 12 to 1, without a single problem. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post or to email...

Regards,

Goldsburg

Now burns,
Would love to have that "powerpuke" in my truck! My old 6.9 with 130k is getting a little anemic. Have to sorta plan ahead for hills. Fuel is turned up so I do have some fun with bicycle riders. Thought about adding a turbo but afraid it might finish the old gal off. Since it is an I-H motor I reckon I oughta check with the gal at Denny's and see if she has something to pep it up a little. Keep that G a-poppin!
