Quite often when attending tractor pulls the group organizeing the pull says that they go by NATPA rules. Then when you show up its obvious that only a version of the rules are enforced. In a couple weeks I wish to compete in a division I pull. The only item I have not in complete acordance with NATPA rules is my electronic ignition. It seems that this is a common item these days and exceptable. Have others noticed that this rules seems relaxed at pulls?

7. ENGINE - Stock block, naturally aspirated. Exceptions: Oliver 99 GM, etc. Stock head, manifold, and carburetor (by part number). Manifolds are to be replacement manufactured parts accepted for that make and model tractor. Stock RPM. Engine parts not in parts book or replacement parts book for that specific tractor cannot be used. Exceptions: Distributors can be used on Antique tractors. A factory coil must be used. No electronic ignitions, square coils, MSD coils or chrome coils allowed

Limited mph classes thin out the HP cheaters. Still have to watch for trick hitches and cut tires.

Well did you have MSD or a Petronix? Of course it can vary but I highly doubt you would have a problem with the Petronix around here, if it was something like an MSD you would diffinatly hear some noise about it.

Well it depends on who you are with the NATPA. They were very rude to me with a div 1 tractor in the past. So i dont plan on pulling with them agin. They did let me pull they just wanted to give me crap. My opinion

I was legal. The problem he had was the casting # on the head wasnt visiable. Its located under the valve cover from the factory. After he gave me a hard time and i tried to explain to him were it was located. He then told me he knew where it was located because he had pulled one for years and he knew the diffrence from the later heads. My opinion was he just wanted to be a pain and show who was the boss.
