Hey guys,
I cant seem 2 figure out how 2 hook up the best with one perticular track i pull @. It is a soft dirt track that doesnt get packed throughout the pull.

I run 13.6x38 near new tires on my stock Farmall H, running above 2,000RPM's, with plenty of power, and I run 13 psi in the tires. It has a 43 inch back, and 19 inch high hitch. I put 260# on the back wheels and none on the front. I also had a Supe H that I also pulled @ this pull,,,

it hooked up fine with 12.4x38 half worn tires. It has a 38 inch back, 19 inch high hitch. I put 65# on the right side of the hitch(which is legal @ this pull) and none on the left or the front. What could I have done wrong on the H? I heard u guys like belly bars, but that wouldnt help me, since I need more traction, im starting to think i need different tires, what do u guys think?

Thanks for any info from all!

if u take your horseshoe and put the mounts on the front of axle you will get even closer. thats what i did with my H. also i run about 7-10psi in my tires depending on track. i run in minnesota and get some good bites with it and if i run 4500lbs class with M's i can usually beat them with the more movable weight. Hope that helps.

At our county fair they let you run two bolts up through the bottom of the hoop and then hook the chain over the hoop! Talk about a wild ride. Front weight is a must!

I've been told that a shorter hitch pulls down more on the back of the tractor, for example: a 18 inch hitch from the center of the axle would pull down more on the back end than a 35 inch hitch from the center of the axle. Is this true? I always thought it was the other way around...with the same hitch height.

The shorter hitch pulls down harder on the rear axle, making more hp be planted to the ground. Must be pulling off the stock drawbar,,, farmall horseshoe hitch is 28 from the center of the rea axle, and thats not a bad place to pull off of at all!! Ya all are lucky to run 20" high,,, we get stopped at 18! LOL!! Hook up a clevis to the horse shoe put it to the max height limit, add some front weight,, not much, maybe 75lbs, or a couple of the IH front wheel weights inthe stock location on the wheels. Should pull a little better. Wheel weights will help. But, if your restricted to using only the stock full length draw bar,,, you can change the actual angle, upwards to the hook point,, and pick up some draft, or pull, but you better add more front end weight!!!! Will be very tipsy if its up at 20 inches with the full length hitch.
