What does a distributor Advance do. The Advance in my Farmall M isn't even doing anything. It was rusted fast and one of the springs was all twisted up and unhooked. How does this effect the way it runs or pulls. It ran pretty good the way it was, however the Mains,Rods, and Cam bearings were all shot too and it still ran good.

The distributor is the (heart of the engine). If it is advanceing as designed it will wind up as though you have released the brakes and it run cooler and on less fuel.Post the (MAKE AND MODEL#)and even I might have the specs for it. CENTAUR
