I have been using and liking the FEL PRO gray composition head gaskets.Recently I blew one.I am thinking maybe the IH original equip. metal one might better withstand the increased compression and load of a pulling motor. What about sealers? Does the liquid or semi liquid act as a lubricant and allow the gasket to slip? Also in the case you have a low spot has anyone used the old permatex no 1 that hardens?Everones comments are welcome thank you.

i used factory IH head gaskets, (metal both sides) in several bored & stroked m engines, 1 had 365 psi cranking pressure, never had a head gasket failure. used 'ultra copper silicone RTV' lightly coated both sides and torqued to factory specs

You can get a good gasket (Victor ) from NAPA.Metal on both sides with copper bosses Spray both sides of gasket with K&W copper coat .Put on a couple or 3 thin coats to get a good coat. Here's the key. Spray the gasket at least 48 hours before you are going to use it A week ahead would be even better and don't forget to re-torque the heat a coulpe of times initially and also a couple months later. I had the same problem with the fel-pro gasket It won't hold up with higher cylinder pressure. Tx, Danny
