Okay, I have been searching through all the old posts on firecrater pistons and I am a little confused. If I want to put a 4" Firecrater piston in a 51 Farmall M with an 8060 head, is the piston going to hit the head? If yes, what would be the best piston to use with the stock 8060 head?? Will the Firecrater work fine with a 450 gas head. I am planning on putting in a 450 cam as well. Thanks for any help you can give me!

P.S. what would a good set of new firecraters cost. I have found some on Ebay that run around $560 plus shipping.

Is there a difference between Firecrater pistons and the ones Tisco sells or are they the same thing?

I had a set of IH firecraters in my SM, I put on a 450lp head, ran good until the tapping noise that I thought was a lifter stopped along with the engine. Come to find out the pistons were hitting the valve until it broke the valve. I put in a set of M&W Add powr 4 1/8 pistons and have been going great for the past 6 years.

Come to find out the M&W pistons were 1/4" shorter than the IH firecraters. You should be fine either way with a 450 gas head.
