A real puller builds his own engine. With enough cash any body can buy a winner. But when you build it youre self and win then you can brag.

I agree with you on building your own engine. I pull trucks and tractors and built all of my own engines. At the truck pulls all the guys have "engine builders" they dont know a thing that is inside there engines when I ask them something they say I dont know I would have to ask my engine builder.

This sport was born in the farming community by those who used farming equipment. They had a great appreciation for function and quality and sometimes disagreed on what was "best". John Deere built my tractor...not me. If I had great engine building skills I wouldn't waste them on tractor pulling...ever hear of NASCAR???

John Deere didn't build your tractor to be competitive on th track. There are tons of people who struggle with that today!

It takes someone with a fierce desire to build an engine that is competitive, unless you can go out and "buy" that $10.00 trophy with a Gingerich, Lemmons, Harrington, or Shipman engine. The professional engine builders and the "fools" that use them have ruined this sport. For example: the "older" 140HP gingerich engines dropping down into Div 3 because they can't compete in the Open class, the owners can't spend more to upgrade, and aren't smart enough to be able to figure out how to upgrade the engine themselves because they never learned that skill in the first place.

Sorry but my Deere looks and runs just like it did 50 years ago. I pull in division II with my my other farming buddies. We don't have a machine shop at our farms so we just pull with what we got.

Please re-read my post. You deere people are slow (more than with your tractors) but this is ridiculous!

Your tractor may run like it did 50 years ago, but it wouldn't have been competitive then and it sure ain't competitive now!

Now you're tractor bashing rather than just putting down guys who don't build their own engines. Check with me Sunday evening when I post the results of the Saturday night and Sunday afternoon pulls in my area. By the way, do you pull or just blow hot air?

Art, building pulling engines is certainly not akin to doing dental work or brain surgery. If you believe that, then I have a couple of "pulling engines" that I would like to sell you, but this will require pre-admission from your insurance company to cover 90% of the charges.

You are just mad because the winning tractors that you have (or had) have "check written" engines in them.

Get over it and stop badgering people. It is people just like you who have ruined other pulling boards with your no value added commentary.

You have no idea what I build. I don't care what you build or I don't care if you bought it. I like to pull and enjoy the people in the sport. It is ridiculus that you you belittle someone because they bought an engine. Enjoy what you built or bought either way so what if someone bought an engine from Lemons. Don't tell me I ruined the board because I object to you making fun of someone else's tractor just because it isn't homemade. Art
