If i get around to putting this 466 on my 560 diesel, I will need a 966 flywheel,to my knowledge that is, will the starter ring gear on the 966 flywheel line up with starter on the 560D?? Im also guessing I will need a bigger starter?

I really would like to know if I put a 706 flywheel my 560 what starter would I need to use. Could I use the 506d starter or 706d starter, I am not sure because the starter location is different on the 706 and the flywheel ring gear is also bigger on the 706.

use a stock 560d flywheel and a single disc will hold it .u can use a 966 start on a 560 .my personal 560 weight in at 4600 pounds with a 466

we put a dounut around the back of flywheel and redrilled the bolt pattern. hy capacity has a heavy duty clutch for a 1086 that will hold it. grind out hyd hub in the pres plate.the release bearing is the same.plot shaft bearing is different.if u r going to turn more than 3000 rpm put in a steel flywheel i know a guy how will make u one.

no disrespect meant but the 560 flywheel pilot that goes over the crank shaft is way smaller than the one on the 466,so you must be carrying the whole load on just the bolts,i would think that would be a little scarry. .my set up goes across the scales at 5500 thats with custom front end and no bolster, and the best single disc set up that could be bought would not hold road gear with 18.434 rubber. so please do tell.or post an e-mail address

Well if you wouldn't mind would you email me, I have some flywheel and starter questions, but it is not for the 466.

ih560, what is your e-mail? leave e-mail adress and I will send you my phone number through e-mil, unless you are uncomfortable with it we can e-mail back and forth, I figured it would be easier to talk on a phone than typing.

966 flywheel will fit, turn down the outside to accept 560D ring gear you will need to face the flywheel where the ring gear goes so the starter nose cone wont hit,use the 560D starter it will work fine, but as others have stated custom steel flywheel is the right way to go as a single disk will not hold the motor, you will need to make a spacer if you use a 966 flywheel.i just finished one.email if you like

A flywheel out of a 966 or 1066 will not fit in the bellhousing of a 560 due to the larger outside diameter of the flywheel. The one that you might want to check on that would possibly fit is one out of a 666 or 686 with the D-312. I'm not sure if it would work or not but the engines are from the same family and it would have the smaller diameter ring gear. Other option would be a custom steel flywheel.

You will have to do some machining. I think you will need a spacer between the flywheel and the motor. To get the flywheel back enough for the ring gear to hit the starter. The easiest thing to do is buy a custom steel flywheel. I hear there is a company out there that has them already made up for that application. This would be much safer than using a spacer and they will handle more load and rpm. If you decide to make a spacer, do it right or you could have a flywheel flying through someones head!
