I have a 48 stock MD. It pulls fairly well in the 6&7K classes. The tractor runs good, but I am considering have my injection pump and injectors gone through.
Any suggestions, or is it a waste of money?

Thanks

I usually out pull the stock M, I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with the IH gas start diesel injection system.

Thanks

Actually the 9 pump and the MD pump are different. The 9 has a bigger plunger and can deliver more fuel.....way to much if you don't get it set right. Go to the pictures and type in MD pulling tractor I have a few picks of how it should smoke when it is pulling.....

I will agree with the post below it is ALOT cheaper to get a gasser to pull. Now if you could get away with putting a turbo on it then you will have something. Our WD-9 will hang with any gasser as long as you can get it to hook.

It depends. Is the torque control turned up in the pump enough that you get smoke when fully loaded? If so then there"s probably not much you are going to gain. IIRC it is the same pump that is used on the 9 series engines as the 6s, so if it has enough fuel for a 9 then it oughta make a 6 smoke pretty good.
I pull my MD, and enjoy it, but the problem is when you pull in a percentage pull, the extra weight of the diesel engine (400 lbs.) counts against you -- and the weight isn"t in the back where you need it. I pull well but don"t always score well.

Personal experiences tell me a Farmall M gas would beat a diesel anyday, so i would just get a gas, but your desision.
