How hard is it to install a 88 engine in a Super 77 chassis? Can the 88 hood be used? Thanks

Future, you might want to check your rules first. I don"t know much about that shade of green, but I doubt that the 88 motor was sold as a factory replacement for the 77 tractor if you have to modify things to make it fit. Most rules for classes as you described (3.5MPH) require a "factory replacement" block.

They let us "Cheat" a little bit. As long as it was made by the manufacturer and bolts in the tub with out any adapters etc etc,, they are ok with it. Some, run engines that have no part numbers on em at all! So, ya kinda see what Im up against. Oliver has an excellent track record, lots of other tractors in the shed to build,, but wanted more of a universal machine,, hotter than stock, but not way out in left field. What cyl heads work on the 88 block that will spice it up?? The 88 head looks like it chokes it to death!!! Darn VAC case has bigger ports and valves than this thing has got!! LOL!!

The engine will bolt right in.It sets in a little higher and longer. The hollow clutch shaft needs to be shortend a half inch or so and the radiator shimed up some for the added height of the engine and use your 77 hood.If you use or need your PTO the drive shaft can be shortend by cutting some of the splined end off to make fit.I had a 77 with a 1800 gas engine for a while ended up putting the engine in a 1750 with a blown diesel.

Im making the 88 engine into a 320ci,, stock stroke, and run 3.5-4mph cut tire classes. Shooting for a very light weight chassis to run heavier classes to get a weight advantage over whats comming in for next years competition. Got any pictures of the tractor you got?? turbo charged?? ThankS!
