Now the correct police have a field day when people change from the generator to an alternator. Does anyone want to offer any kind of comparison when comparing a generator and alternator when referencing a pulling appication?

Do you think that a generator could be used to feed an full electronic system. I'm not sure how the generator output and alternator output compare to each other.

Could you back feed a generator to help power the tractor at the end of the pull? Same as using the generator as a stater like they used on older garden tractors.

The newest hybrid cars do that now use a combo motor/generator.

Dear Pot Stirrer..... Since I really don't care what people do when it comes to generators vs. alternators, but would like to give a polite reply, here goes.....If you want your old two lung JD, or any tractor of that era, to appear stock, use a generator. If you want or need more electrical power at lower engine speeds, and originality is unimportant, use an alternator. I personally feel that a thread like this tends to just cause an argument and that it really makes no difference which one you use. My two cents....Greg

I don't run anything on my G. A fully charged battery has always been more than enough to get me through the day.
