Are the C-301 tractor block and IH 264 industrial blocks interchangeable? Was bone-yard scavenging and the owner wanted to sell one that he swears interchanges. I saw some differences, but they do look similar.

Anyone know about these?

If the "industrial" motor is based upon the Black Diamond [BD] 264 truck motor, lots of stuff will interchange with the C-301. There were two possible heads, the "straight valve" and the "tilt valve", on the truck motors. Straight-valve motors were prone to dropping a valve occasionally; the tilt-valve engines were not. Piston tops were different between the two as well,so if you build one, make sure you're getting pistons compatible with the head you have.

Thanks,

We bought a straight valve head from this junkyard and will use it on a C-301 powered Farmall 460 puller. We will be porting the head and switching over to 11/32" valves and performance springs, retainers, locks etc...

I wouldn't mind having a couple blocks around to sonic test and pick the best one to bore out.
