Found a pair of 15.5 x 38 Goodyear Power Torque with 30% tread. How do they compare for cutting and pulling to 15.5 X 38 All Traction Field And Road #151"s? They seem very hard.

Those old Power Torques were a heavy tire and evidently being heavy built keeps the lugs from squirming-they are excellent in dead weight pulls. I'm not a fan of any 15.5-38 for tractor pulls, their low profile, short sidewall design just can't compete with a 14.9 or 16.9. A 15.5 has a smaller footprint than a 14.9. The taller sidewall sizes allow for a lot more dozer effect-more lugs on the track. All 15.5's are low profile and the Power Torques are lower in each size as compared to any other.

I've seen them cut every different way there is, and they still don't seem to hook up as good as other brands.

There will be lots of discussion on this topic and I will be interested to read others opinions. Generally Firestone Armstrong and B F Goordich are regarded as favorites in the area where we pull. As is always the case tractor setup is vitally important to sucess in any pulling endevour, being as or more important than tire brand. Our DC's tires are 18.4x38 Armstrong, 15.5's Goodrich and both do an excellentg job. Hope this generates a good discussion so we all can learn from each other. mEl
