In my first message you said to check the camshaft number what number should that be? You also talked about 3 springs where do I get these springs, from you or is there a part number for them that will work. As for the engine over haul I have found a couple kits one has a dome top piston whis is considered the fire crator and the other is a steped head piston, which is better? Any advice would be real helpful. Thanks Mike

The governor spring, makes the carb operate at a faster pace with stiffer tension. The distributor advance springs, work in the opposite,, a less tension spring will allow the weights to activate/respond faster. With the advance opearting faster, this allows for a faster responce time under rpm changes, accleration, and helps settle in the engine a little faster for the sudden drp and sudden power surge that a puller can and will experience during a pull. The advance will be fully activated and ready to go before your rated rpm or rpm limit. There is a few things you can do to the advance stop inside the distibutor to give it a few more degrees timing, either direction,,, one way can affect base timing, and the other can affect low end torque,,, just dpends on which direction you slot the hole stop. Take the distributor apart and youll see what Im trying to describe. ChadS ChadS3@hotmail.com

49900ddx is the cam to find. Firecraters, and use a 350 gas head. Makes an enhanced factory upgrade for that engine style, and still look stock in appearence. NAPA has recurve kits for chevy HEI distributors,,, the distributor springs are in this kit, and use the middle or second set,,, read the pack to see the identity, usually by color. Do you have a TSC store locally? I have caught a glimpse of them there,,, they got springs hanging on a wall. Might get close to matching up to the ones we sell,,, if not I have em. Lowes might have em too?? ChadS ChadS3@hotmail.com
