Look it's all about wieght, not the horsepower!!
When people lose the first thing out of there mouth (((CHEATER))). Yes, sometime the horsepower helps but if you can't put it to the track---you lose. Some poeple need to watch Nascar, the fastest car doesn't always win. You have to know your tractor!! Some tractors pull good on one track but not on others. Look at every class 98% of the time the winner of the class has just the right setup. Most of the time it's a guessing game, but just watch. So before you say he won because he is cheating maybe, the man is just a better PULLER THAN YOU!!

Well I have to say that you guys are wrong. It is not the horsepower or the kind of tractor you pull it is the guy on the sled that makes you win.Why do I say this is because it has happen to me.It happen pulling a powerseld the kind that the guy can drive. Me and an another guy pulled aound 175 feet on the track and all of a sudden our tractors stoped and spun out? Me with an JD and the other guy AC. Two other pullers with JD pulled 300 feet.I have pulled with these guys before and was always just a few feet behind them. Then a friend of mine showed me the tape of the pull an showed me how the pan on the sled was droped on me and the other guy at 150 feet and about 280 on the other guys.I can't wait for the next club meeting. I'm taking a tv with a buit in vcr and and going to show the other guys the tape an see what happens. You can clearly see the pan off the ground for the other guys.

I brought up the subject of the pan being not being lowered at the same time on every pull,a couple of months ago, after the dekalb super pull.,And I got told i was crazy by the ohio pullers. But, I also have it on video and will make sure when i am pulling against the "DEW SLED" again that every one will be aware of the fact that the sled is not consistant!!!!!

Do you mean weight position/advance on the sled or when the front of the pan makes full contact with the ground? Hitch height, drawbar angle & tire pressure/size/type are major players when the drawbar drops & all stops except for flying dirt.

On the tape you can see that he has the front wheels on the ground and rolling down the track on the sled pass where me and the other guy was stoped. It also showes that the guy that was cleaning up the track left a pile from the other puller with the ac that gos under the pan.If that pan was down the drit should roll out the sides of the front of the sled. You also can see that there is about 2 to 3 inches of space under the front to the back of the pan when the other two pullers are pulling. It sure dont look good for the guy running the seld when the other club members see this.

The front wheels can still be on the ground and have the pan drop three inches & dig in. Sagging rear tires & a bending drawbar is all it takes. Our local sled measures by weight travel rather than track distance. Prevents many variables before they start.

It's true. I run a complete stock Farmall M. I mess around with the weights, tire presure etc. and get it to be competitive against the guys I know have a ton of money sitting under the hood.

I hate to lose as much as the next puller but it doesn't hurt as much when you get to witness an ol' farmer and his iron walking it down the track. That little bit of break and throttle gets the sled just over that hump that everyone else gets hung up on.

That's pullin my friends!!

Here in Missouri, our pulls are very competative. To me it doesn't matter if you win or lose, the question is "are you having fun doing it"? I enjoy every minute of it. Even though I am only 19, I don't mind getting beat by a guy who is 50 years older than me. It is those type of people that I learn what I need to do to beat them at the next pull. Yes the track playes a major roll. I the track is lose, I anin't got a chance to get 1st, but if it is hard, look out. I pull a 900 Ford, certainly not everyones favorite. I impress myself that that old tractor will keep up with the Olivers, which are very hard to beat. Like I said at the beginning, we pull for fun & in the Fords case for bragging rights.
