WORKING ON A AN M CYLINDER HEAD PUTTING IN OVERSIZE VALVES HAVE FOUND A LARGER VALVE FOR THE INTAKE MEASURES 1.970 COMPARED TO 1.812 STOCK STOCK EXHAUST IS 1.66 SEEMS TO ME THAT THE EXHAUST SHOULD BE LEFT ALONE AND NOT MADE ANY LARGER WHEN YOU COMPARE TO SAY A SMALL BLOCK CHEVROLET VALVE SIZE COMPARISON I KHOW WITH AUTOMOTIVE PERFORMANCE ENGINES IF THE EXHAUST VALVE AND PORT IS TO LARGE WILL HURT PERFORMANCE ANY COMMENTS OR THOUGHTS?

CORN HUSKER ,Which head are you working with? If you put a bigger valve in without fly cutting the combustion chamber you could loose more flow than if you used good stock valves & reshaped the valve poket below the valve. Too large of valve could restrict the flow.Earl

I agree with what you are saying about exh. valve/port size. I would say work on the intake and leave the exhaust alone. If you put that head on a flow bench; the exhaust is too efficient compaired to the intake as it is, no sense in making it worse.

Drew you say ex is too effeceint anyway>
Other than maybe blowing fresh mixture uot the exhaust with a cam of too much duration what is it going to hurt??Seems too little ex flow would block incoming mixture.I have this before and would like to know.
