While sitting in line to pull my rear tire which is mounted on aluminum rims suddenly went flat. I found a 4 in. hole directly in the middle of the tube where the two halves would have come together. Wondering if anyone ever had that happen? Thanks to good friends I was able to find another tire. Even though it had to be mounted backwards, I was able to finish pulling.

General, I have a question about those wheels. Where did you drill the valve stem hole? I'm gonna try to mount mine tubeless this weekend, but I just don't know how the tube sits in that V. Approx. how far down from the bead should I put the stem just in case the tubeless idea don't work? Thanks!

Mine were per drilled at four inches. Let me know how you make out going tubeless. Art

Maybe you'd better go that route Art, it would keep it from happening again to you in the future...

Sound as if you had the General coming and going that last hook. Which side won? Maybe the Twister and I will have to try that.

I don't know you or your situation. A friend of mine owns a tire shop. He says he is having a lot of trouble getting good tubes any more. All foreign made crap.

We've had the same problem mainly with firestone tubes made in Venazuala(SP) there either cracked up or they pop holes as soon as you mount them. I sent a pair back and got a set of carlisle's made in china and have to say they were made like a tube was here 40yrs ago thick and heavy with brass nut and stainless valve cap. The rubber even looked better.

I think you should get rid of those rims, you might even have to give them away but get rid of them now. I think you have my number, I"ll try and help you with that task.

Jim

Sweeper may have a point, could be the mud. HA! HA! One of the Farmall Pullers' called me today. He said throw the tubes away and put some good sealant around the rims, not to much just enough. I guess it makes quite a mess to clean up. I was waiting for Jim to go bananas when someone ask if anyone had weighed a firestone. Still 84 degrees.

General - You'd think for what those rims cost you could go tubeless...

Might be that Mississippi gumbo ate a hole in the tube while at Tunica.
