I am wanting to get into tractor pulling. I want to pull with the bad boys, Hot Farm 10,000. I am an International man and am wanting to know which tractor to get. I am thinking of a 966, 1066, or 1466. My buddies are trying to talk me into a 2050 Oliver. I don't know, I just want a tractor that can compete. I want to build it myself. Just please give your preferences on which tractors and why. I don't really care what color it it. Thanks.

The easiest way is to go to the pulls and see if there are any for sale.Buy the one that's for sale that finishes in the top of the class.
Good Luck!!!!! !!!!

I started with an out of the field 88 Oliver in the antique(division 1) have progressed all the way to super stock over 17 years. My best suggestion is to check the classifieds and see what catches your eye and doesn't drain your wallet. Personally I am an Oliver or MM man.

Which "bad boys" do you want to pull with? If you want to pull with the real big dogs, it's not a matter of what tractor you need, it's a matter of how much you want to spend. The term is "cubic dollars" - just like nearly any motorsport, the guys with the deepest pockets are usually going to have the advantage. There are competitive tractors in every brand. There are a lot of factors involved, but unlike in antiques, where there are classes for the guys with the smaller wallets, and good track reading and driving goes a long way, the big tractor winners usually come down to HP and correct set-up. So decide what your budget is and go from there. Post how much you want to spend, and the guys on here can give you a much better idea of what tractor will best suit you and what parts you need (read: what you need to spend). Your post started with you saying that you want to get into tractor pulling. Have you ever pulled a tractor before? If you haven't, you might want to consider starting at a little lower level and working up from there. There's a lot of difference between driving a 200 hp tractor in the field and trying to keep a 1000 hp monster in a straight line down the track. Your best bet is going to be going to as many pulls as you can, talking to as many pullers as you can, and do as much research as you can before you dive in. My two cents.

I have pulled an 88 forever and am wanting to spend less than 30000. I think I can get a good one for that or less, hopefully less.

Search the internet under tractor pulling, etc. There are several good sites and a lot of them have classified sections with guys advertising turn-key tractors - I have seen several of different brands around the $20,000 mark, but I don't know if they are what you're looking for. Also check the tractor links part of this page, as there is a listing for pulling sites.
