What makes an antique, how old? Does it have to have 2 cylinders or can it have 4, 6, or 8? I have a 1962 Farmall and I am interested in participating in the Antique Tractor Show and Pull at our State Fair this year. Before I call for an entry form and info, I was curious if 1962 would even be considered antique.

Thank you,

Charles

the pull I do is 59 and older. I was told last year there are antique pulls that the tractor has to be atleast 40 years old. The problem I have with that is the tractors built in the 60's are a different class of tractor. I beleive the NATPA says they have to be series starting in 57 except JD 30 series. I am in west central mn and there is a MM G-VI that pulls with us. I think its a late model but the series started in 59.

Im pretty sure the reason for the cut off doesn't have much to do with the age of the tractors but more of what sort of power we were dealing with in that time frame. I'd guess it will stay 57 / 58 / whatever... forever... simply because you will be pulling apples and apples... not apples and turbo apples.

Thinking our club lops it of at 57 and older? Pretty sure that's it but every club will be different.

Bob

Why is it that 1958 is still the limit for Antique? As time moves on should'nt newer things now be "antique" the year limits are the same now as they were in 1988 yet that was 20 yrs ago. I think "antique" has to progress, I mean in the year 2040 will the limit still be 1958?

In some clubs they are and some clubs they are not. You would need to check where you are planing to attend.

Most clubs would consider your "62 to be antique, since I"d assume it is a 60 series tractor, which started production in "58.

My club says 1959 and older, and allows newer if production started '59 or before. I pull my 560W that's a '61, since production started in '58. I also have a Gvi (not pulled it yet). Production started in '59, so it's legal. Now we have a guy who shows up occasionally with a Massey Super 98? I think. It's a Gvi with Massey skin, but MM didn't sell it to Massey till '60, so is it legal? I dunno, and I don't care, but if somebody complained, he probably couldn't pull.
