Hi All,

Although I have been joked on for wanting to pull with my 9N in the local antique tractor pull... what is better for the most traction and best pulling scenario:
9N set with a 72" rear or a 64" rear?
Tires will be loaded.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

Narrow would be better. If you do have them out a bit make sure they are set out at a even distance. If one is,let's say a 1/4 farther than the other one,it might pull a little crooked,and run you off to one side of the track.

Karl, the only reason to have a wide tread is if you are pulling a sled with a narrow pan ,when you get slippage the dirt won't pile in front of sled.Your differential will stay locked up better with narrow tread and you can change directions easier.Earl

let me clarify...

rear axle can be adjusted to beanywhere from 48" - 72" wide. Currently I am going to space the tires @ 64". Should I max it, or keep it closer.

Narrower will make it pull starter once your front end comes off the ground.
