What type of compression is everyone else getting on a "stock" G rebuild? I'm showing about 100psi. Also, if I open the petcocks the left side seems normal. The right side seems like it misses a "spit" now and then. Pretty sure the valve timing is correct. What am I missing? Guess I shoulda' went to college like Mom said!

That's why Deere went with duplex carburation on the replacement tractors for the A,B & G.

My '51 G with 6.5 to 1 aluminum .090 oversize pistons and about .100 off the head has around 115-120 lbs. compression...pulls 50+ horse on all pto or belt driven dynos. My "stock" GW with .045 over John Deere cast pistons has about 65-70 lbs. compression and doesn't have near as much power as the '51.....but it'll still burn kerosene or whatever.....if it's good and warmed up. The right cylinder on either tractor will sort of spit sometimes at no load idle speeds 'cause it's getting what's sort of a "left over" lean mixture charge because it follows the fully charged left cylinder after just 180 degrees of crank turn. When pulling hard the right cylinder gets a full rich charge just like the left one did because the throttle valve is opened up pretty well and, believe me, then the G's fuel loving carburetor will not short change either cylinder if the adjustable needle valves are adjusted for max. power.
