I am planning to take my SuperW6 to the local antique pull. It has 18.4X30 Dyna torque tires.Does the longbar/shortbar design work very well? What kind of tire pressure should I carry. As you can tell, tthis is my first go at this. Is there anything I can do to this tractor for anymore HP? Dont have alot of time to work on it,The pulls coming up right away. I don't want to look like a fool pulling but dont have to win either. Thanks for any info. Also does drawbar height make alot of difference? The track we are pulling on doesn't seem like a real hard track.

just a few comments from the idiot section. if you can run radial tires or 23 degree lugs they work better than field and roads but if your class doesnt allow this then its hard to beat the firestones. try and find a used set as new ones wont wrinkle and hook as well as the field broke in ones do. as far as the drawbar settings its gonna be a try and fail deal. i have a 1936 w 40 that i pull and had to add industrial cast wheels on front to get the tractor to balance out right in the 8000 lb class where i pull it. good luck and fun experimenting.

First pull, eh? Here are a few things that work. Your mileage may vary. Drawbar: The shorter and higher, the better. Many clubs give a maximun height, though. And many clubs also state that the hole on the drawbar must be a minimum number of inches back from the axle. Check the rules before making these adjustments. Tires: The lower the pressure, the better - at least that's what I've found. You can probably go down to 8 pounds safely - going to 6 would probably give you even better traction, but do this at your own risk - you *can* spin the tires on the rims if you deflate too far. I suspect this tractor will do better in the 6500 and 7500 classes - though you never know until you try it in other classes. And as for weights, get the tractor as close to the top of the weight class as you can. Add weights - the best place is on the frame - just in front of the rear tires. As I said, your mileage may vary. Take the tractor to several pulls and use different combinations. Good luck.

I dunno what a super w6 came with or how fast the low gear is, it depends on what classes too. Post what class you will pull it in and stuff( I'm not a farmall man, I'm JD, but I'll try to help)

The rules say 1st gear or 3.5mph. I will probably try to pull in the 4500,5500, and 6500 classes. The tractor is all orignal. It is the same size as the Super M but in a wheatland model.I haven't weighed the tractor but I might not be able to get it to the 4500 class. It really looks like a heavy machine. Thanks

A SW6 with mostly factory parts will not be light enough to get to 4500#. Just guessing, if it still has cast iron wheel centers and the original hvy wide front, the 5500# class may be a stretch. Drive it to the local elevator and see what their scales says. This is a little time up front to save trying to find 250# to lose ten minutes before your hook in order to make the lighter class. If you want to enhance your engine horsepower, I am repacing the motor in my M puller to a larger cube motor and will be selling my 326 cu. in. I believe it will bolt directly into a W6 without any trouble. That motor is more than enough to run 18.4x34 cut tires at 4 mph on power tracks from Ohio to Missouri.

What would a set of Firestone tires be worth used in the 18.4X30's?
