Cliff are you going to the Danville Pull April 26? If I go should I change tires to pull in the non-pace classes or will their be enough tractors to make an open class? (5500 to 7500) Thank you, Art

Art,

I'd suggest you change tires to 15.5x38 or 16.9x34 if you're pulling 5500-7000 (cut tire classes unless you're stock....:). We usually are pretty lacking in tractors that pull the big tire classes, and I'd rather you come and pull against some competition than to come all that ways and pull against yourself.

I'm glad to hear you're thinking of coming. I met you up at red power round-up last year - we had the semi-primered H that won the 5 or 6,000 class (can't remember). If I remember right, your M was no slouch and would fit right in here too if you want to bring along another tractor :)

Thanks for the info, Mike. 5500 to 7000 cut 15.5-38 tires, non-pace sound like my class. All I have are full cuts. Will they work or do I have to look for something else? Art P.S. I remember your H. BIG HAMMER!

Art,

We typically only allow top cuts, but because we"re trying to get some tractors in from out of the area that might not have the typical set-ups we use, we"re allowing full cuts in the cut tire classes as long as they meet the size restrictions. We"re kind of interested to see how some of them would hook on our track too :)

Guess I should have noted this for just the FFA pull in april MAFMCA. I'm not sure what you can run at trout run - you'll need to check with CLiff.

I am pretty sure they have a class for you. You can contact Mike Shultz @ 570 271-3268. He is the guy running things. He also told me there is a pull the following day about 45 minutes away from their pull. Not totaly sure if dad and I will actually make it. We have a club pull down here at Scottdale pa. that same day. Ron

The best way to reach me is my cell number - 570-764-3985. I don't run things, but I'm the ag teacher at Danville and am also a MAFMCA club member on the pulling committee so I have a pretty good idea of what's going on. Dad and I also pull usually at least 3 tractors, and sometimes as many as 6... not sure we'll have all 6 ready in 2 weeks thought!!

The other pull that's about 45 minutes away is up at Trout Run just above Williamsport - Cliff S is more in the know about what you could run up there.

Thanks for your interest. The FFA gets half of the hook fees for this pull. Tonight is our FFA banquet where we'll install our new officers, and we try to take them on a weekend officer retreat in May so that they all get to know each other better, and to work on some goals and ambitions for next school year - the money we receive from the benefit tractor pull is what funds this for us. The MAFMCA club has been very gracious to us, but I feel a certain oblication to try to promote it a little more so that hopefully we get a few more hooks than normal so the club doesn't loose out on as much in the big scheme of things. Plus, it gives the FFA officer retreat more funds to work with.

Hope to see you there. Bring some friends!

Actually Randy and I thought we might like to take in one of their pulls. Do you think there will be tractors in Div IV, cuts tires, etc. Twist my arm a little and any info would be helpful. About 4 hours for us and weather could be a factor.

Art,

Sorry I've chopped this up between 3 different posts to you and Ron.

I think your 5-star w/small tires would fit in real well in our "Stock cut tire" classes. You can pull 3 classes of your choice - non pace (5500, 6500, 7500) or pace (6,000 and 7,000). We usually run our M in 5500, 6,000, and 6500 - gives us some variety in pace/non pace.

Same sled as you pulled in Bloomsburg w/your M - MAFMCA donated the sled and some of the help to run the pull for red-power last year. I'd love to see Randy's 600 come in and pull, but I can't guarantee he'll have anything to pull against and I doubt he'd want to run pace with it - just wouldn't seem right to me! I saw it run out at DeKalb a few years ago with it's previous owner, and loved that tractor.

Typically, there's a good turnout (5-12) tractors in most "stock uncut tire" and "Stock cut tire" classes from about 4,000 through about 7500, and then they taper off pretty quickly after that. The Classic, Non-turbo, and Turbo classes are usually pretty limited in the number of hooks we have - usually 2-4 per class on a good day. Last year I think our total hooks for the day ran around 210. It cost $5 for a MAFMCA membership, and $5 per class to pull. I might be biased, but in our area I think some of the toughest tractors (and drivers) are the regulars that attend our monthly pull.

If you need any more info give me a call (570-764-3985), or post on here. I usually return calls in the evening.

Thanks,

Mike
