My son & I acquired a M-F 35 Ser # SNM212043 when we bought this property (horse farm in NC) 4 years ago - the tractor has performed well since then with some minor work. This year it seems to be going downhill fast -- blowing a tremendous amount of diesel smoke from the pipe and also from under the engine hood and there is antifreeze running down the engine from the top near where the exhaust pipe connects to the engine on the left hand side as you sit on the tractor. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I agree with Stan it is probably a head gasket allowing antifreeze into a piston. We use to own a MF 35 if I remember the head is not hard to remove. If you replace the head gasket you will want to check the head itself at a machine shop. It might need to be shaved.

Sounds like you have a cracked head or a bad head gasket letting water leak into combustion area. I have experienced this problem in the past. There is a product sold by napa auto parts stores called iron tite. It is not the correct repair but it is cheaper than a top end repair. Make sure you follow directions exactly, and it should work. Good luck Stan
