new leak in an OC3 radiator has nixed a prospective sale. Any suggestions on how to deal with it short of another trip to expensive repair shop. Leak is about center of the radiator toward the fan. Appreciate any advice. PC

Took the radiator to a local shop for repair; job done satisfactorily. Tech with 19 yrs experience repeated the advice; DO NOT put anything except water/antifreeze IN the radiator. I consider the advice and repair worth what it cost. Thanks for all the replies. PC

Stop by an auto parts store and get some radiator stop leak. It works wounders.

For what it's worth, I have another perspective. In an email message from a contact I made from this site, who has restored 3 MF35s (and I suspect other vintage tractors), he wrote the following:

"...radiator stop leak is not a great idea. Stop leak will also fill in the core of the radiator where you don't want it to. I have had heater cores stop up tight from stop leak. I would use it only in a dire situation."

Since I'd already used it (it worked fine but another condition proved to be my bigger problem) I asked him how to get rid of it: "I don't know if you can really clean out the stop leak. If the tractor still cools fine I wouldn't worry about it. If there is a leak again in the radiator I would take it to a radiator shop and give it a good cleaning."
