I was standing at a estate auction with a hand in the air to much. I purchased three or four big machines for beveling and polishing glass. All I wanted was the motors and now I would like someone to get some use out of the machines. The motors are easy to replace 1HP / belt drive and out in the open. Does anyone know how to get rid of this stuff? A friend tried e-bay and no one even looked at it. I have not ruled out our local antique show, but no one has a clue how they work. I can have a friend post some pictures, but I'm a bone head when it comes to complicated stuff on puters. I also have a whole bunch of leaded glass chanels that I can't imagine the new cost of. They will bring decent money at the local scrap yard, but I'm from the bad side of the tracks and hate to see it go that route. Any ideas ----you guys always come up with something good unless it relates to the idiots that run our country, then ya all get flakey in a hurry. So thanks in advance. NE IA

Sorry I see now that I left a letter out of my subject post.

Are you the guy that has had a show the last two or three years? If so did you attend the NEIFAA show at Plagman barn? Then if so I was at the rock crusher / brick maker / BEDROCK building.

If you are interested it can be on loan to you at NO cost. I will load it on your trailer and leave motors on. I only ask that you sign a paper stating ownership, and a release of liability. This paper would not have been necessary a year ago, but problems have made it a definat must now.

The only problem I may have is others have been offered the same option by some of my friends and I feel a obligation to check it out with them first.

They are stored inside and snow removal will be a issue, so I'm thinking spring right now.

I used to do a little beginner stained glass. I would try some of the larger towns that might have a stained glass business. Those machines are too valuable to let go to scrap. Someone should be able to get some use out of them. The smaller lead channel is called "came" It comes in different sizes and shapes. I have also seen the bigger stuff, but never worked with it.

Regular lead came is easy to come buy and not to expensive.

Good luck,, Gene

Consider contacting your local adult night school. Many people take night courses in various trades. A friend of mine took a class on making stained glass designs. See if you can reach out to an instructor that way.

Somewhat familiar with the glass/glazing industry, more so with construction assemblies, but I'm wondering if such a machine was used to produce a type of glass not commonly used any more, making the machine obsolete. I'm not familiar with variations in plate glass, that can be beveled/polished, as seems to be common with furniture. Glass has to be of the safety type, like tempered for a door or window, I'd research to see what kind of glass materials it was used for and see if you can find any glazing shops that are interested in it.

I would imagine someone that does stained glass would be interested in the lead materials, that's out of my league, know nothing of that kind of work, I'm surprised no one was interested on ebay or craigs list or your local want ad /trader publication, ours has a building material section in it, usually 3 pages long, find some good deals in there.
