Bars' leak used to claim tht their leak stopper was successfully used on a nuclear submarine in the 50s, i have also used course ground black pepper.

I was looking on the net some things claim to swell up dried out seals by softening the rubber.

Actually the "soft seals" theory works to a point, will it stop a leak, usually not unless your very lucky. But I make it a point of adding stop leaks at alternating oil changes (engine and trannys) to prevent seals from getting hard in the first place. I have also been told by mechanics that engine flushes are extremely hard on seals (the solvents dry the seals out) and recomend using a additive with the oil after a flush.

i will agree with this 100% but preventing seals from getting hard and dry rotten is one thing. fixing a seal after it is allready cracked is another.

Years ago I tried all the different stop leaks in the radiator. EVERY ONE of them will lead to more trouble, less efficient coolingt, over heated engine, down the road. If you have used one, then you need to pull the radiator and take to professional radiator shop for boil-out or rod-out. Don't waste your time and money on "snake oil" quick fixes. Repair things properly. My $0.02.

I don't know of anything that stops leaks in the engine or hydralics, but for the radiator any Bars stop leak products work well. I think the pressure is to great on hydralics for any kind of stop leak to work.

Right up front; I don't like the stuff! It doesn't matter to me if it's the radiator, the engine or the hydraulics, I don't think they are designed to have "stuff" that clogs up holes, poured into them. Sometimes, you have to do, what you have to do. I've used radiator stopleak to get home or out of the field before. The thing is, you're masking a serious problem, instead of fixing it. The few times I've ever used radiator stopleak, it was Barr's original. As far as engine and hydraulic "sealers", never used them, don't know the first thing about them.

my personal opinion is that seal stop leak is just a put off repair. yes they have there place a quick fix to get you through the summer or such. since you say every seal hyd. and engine is leaking it sounds like it is past that and is repair time. seals like anything do not last for ever.they either wear out from use or dry rot from no oil on them in non use.I do not have any prefance for one brand over the other.(do not feel bad I have seen people mix 90w oil in there engine oil to stop smoking and leaks)

I dont know much about engine oil or any seals but for radiator repair I have always found that long cut chewing tobacco works great. It plugs most major holes until the radiator is drained and then the tobacco falls out with the coolant.
