Generator on a MF35

I am having trouble with a generator on my MF 35. Would it be better to change this over to a Alternator and can this be done

Go to the Massey Ferguson board, and post a mesage for Big Dean. he will give you all the info you'll need to do the job right. The biggest problem will be that the alternator won't have the drive for the tachometer. That might not be a big deal for you. I stayed with the generator becouse of this reason.

just did a conversion on my MF 203 with 3 cyl perkins I got an alternator off a GM from the rebuild shop it has only one wire to connect up works great and charges fine only thing is I have to crack engine up in rpms to get it to excite after that it charges perfectly. I used some old scrap metal to attach it to the generator bracket that was already on the engine.
