If you locate the serial number (on a plate near the steering column) you can determine the date of manufacture.
1951 6001 to 72769
1952 72680 to 108644
1953 108645 to 125958
1954 125929 to 140000

All Ferguson To30's have the Continental Z-129 engine, rated at 30.27 hp

Information from the Unofficial Harry Ferguson Web Page

Our Church bought a 30 fergusson tractor and we needed to know the horsepower and perhaps the year that it was made? We didn't know if the serial # would tell us anything, some one told me that some of these old tractors would tell us by the first two, or last two numbers of the serial #. I don't know what year it was made, I do know that it is a 30 fergusson. Thanks

Bob, You can get alot of backround info on your TO-30. If you have a Barnes and Noble bookstore they have a section that has history on tractors.
The Fergie info will be found in FORD tractor books. I found one that has the serial #'s for the old Fergies by year of production. Interestingly the TO-30's out sold and out performed the Ford 8n's. The old farmers by me say the old Continental engine in the TO-30 is far superior to the Ford in the 8n.
Hope this helps. Greg

I believe you have given the engine number. If you will log on to www.montesequipment.com/ and e-mail them your eingine number (be sure to give the Z129 prefix), they can tell you what year the engine was manufactured. That will give you a clue to the year of your TO-30. My guess is that it was built in 1953 or 1954. Also look on the console of the tractor for the nameplate. It should have a tractor serial number beginning with TO 30. Good luck.
