Hi, Folks.
I'm open to correction on this as I may be mistaken but I very strongly suspect that the photo in this ad. is of a TD 15 rather than a TD 14.

Looks like a TD 14-142 to me, I have a TD18-182 and it looks almost identical to this one. I believe the TD 14-142 and TD18-182 were only built for a few years before being discontinued, I haven't seen many of either model, but they are pretty much the same mechanically as the older series but are styled differently and the blade mounts and lift cylinder mounts are different. The later series also used a hydraulic steering booster instead of the spring assist. Looking from the front, it can be difficult to distinguish this series from the TD 15, 20, and some of the later Dresser models at first glance. Hope this helps!

if i'm not mistaken, the TD14 was a 4 cyl. gas over diesel and the TD15 was a 6 cyl. gas start diesel

If you look up the numbers in the Serial Number section at the left of this page it will verify it as correct. Unless of course he got the wrong serial number--very unlikely.

Any great difference between the two models mentioned? I have a book here with tractors up to 1956 but only the TD14 shows up. Think maybe it's possible that the owner isn't really misrepresenting the crawler but is maybe just mistaken, or probably thinks it is a model 14?

Hi, Folks. I'm a pretty charitable type. I'm hoping he simply posted the wrong photo 'cos that does look a lot more like a TD 15 than a TD 14 to me.

The TD 14 was a gas start diesel and I think the TD 15 came out with direct electric start from day one but I'm prepared to be corrected on that if need be.

If my suspicion that the wrong photo had been posted is correct, the serial number check won't do a lot of good with regard to the machine in the photo.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Deas, you are wrong, early TD 15 [from 1958 to 1963]had the 6 cylinder gas over diesel. The TD 15B came out in 1963 had the TD 407 direct start diesel

My old TD-15 has the gas start/diesel run 6 cylinder; serial no. is gone; how do I tell if it's 150 or 151 series?

I bought a JD repair manual off of Ebay, turned out to be an IT. The picture was of a real shop manual. Would this be misrepresenting or no ?
