Is a 9 foot scraper blade too big for a 65 HP Case 830? I will use it primarily for snow. I have a 7 footer, which is exactly the width of the rear tires, but I have a chance to get the 9' for $250 and get a bigger bite.

Just because it's 9', who says you have to use it all????? ???? You load it untill the tractor can no longer handle it!

Another thing is, it will be a heavier blade, and that's not a bad thing, when it's on the back of a 2wd tractor!! Robert

Pulled an eight foot box blade with a 3010 JD for years.

Picture this. I have a 9' blade rated at 150HP left over from my farming days. I use it on a Ford 841 along with a front plow for snow. Had to swap out the draft links with a 3000 to get Cat II capability. Width is very handy, and provides GREAT traction when just carrying it!

I was going to say that's kinda big - until you said snow. And then you said the price.

Buy it. You've nothing to lose. Can always sell it for that, and should work fine for you in snow. Hp is plenty for snow, you need traction - liquid, wheel weights, chains, etc. for snow. Don't know what you have for that, but if you can't make it work, you can always resell it.

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't think you'd have any problem pulling snow if you've got 65 hp to play with. The only hangup I see with a 9' blade is that you may not have room to turn the blade around so you can push the snow (in reverse). You'll probably hit the rear tires preventing it from turning 180 degrees. If you never move snow in that way, then I guess you have no problems.
