Hi, Folks. I have maintained for 20 years or more now that you can't legislate safer drivers. You have to educate them. Make it so darned hard to get a driver's license in the first place and so easy to lose it that people start regarding it as a privilege instead of a right. Make people go through an education process to get their license that covers advanced driving techniques, fairly intense mechanical and maintenance knowledge, stopping distances at all speeds, what to expect under all types of road and weather conditions and COMPULSORY visits to hospital ER's to view road accident trauma first hand. I'd even like to see newbies taken out in cop cars and ambulances to accident scenes to see what they look like and what people's stupidity causes. However, motorists don't seem to schedule their stupidity to suit driving classes. Almost, but not quite yet. There is at least one very well-known V8 sedan racing driver DownUnder who is advocating better education for drivers but the various governments don't appear to be listening. Why? Because their approach of upping the fines keeps bringing in more revenue. The education approach would probably bring in less revenue. It may also reduce the costs of accidents to the taxpayer but they either haven't seen that or don't want to know. My 2 cents. You ahve a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
