Love-joy coupling

I need to find a coupling that goes on the end of the shaft connecting the engine pully to a front-mounted hydraulic pump on the frame of my front loader. Its for a Ford 841, don't know the make of the loader; fairly heavy duty for this size tractor made of round tubes.

The coupling has four holes in a square, or X pattern. Each hole has a rubber gromet to allow some play. 2 holes are used to bolt to the flange on the shaft from the motor, and 2 are used to bolt to the flange on the pump.

My brother calls this a love-joy coupling. Any suggestions were to find one?

Thanks.

Loader is probably a Wagner. Wagner made the pipe framed loaders for the N's through the hundred series tractors. Sold them under their label, as Ford oem, and several others. Walts and others carry the parts for them, including the drive connectors.

And no, it is not a love-joy connector. They did use those, and several others. This is one of the several others.

If you need to keep fixing it every so often, and if there is room there, you might be able to replace it with a Dodge (not the car company) Para-flex coupling. They are like a tire which has been cut straight across to allow it to be opened up and put into place. The bead of the "tire" is pinched between an inner and outer part of the rim, and there is one of these rims on the end of each of the two shafts being coupled. The tire is the only connection between the shafts. These things are tolerent of end float, shafts which are not parallel, and shafts parallel, but not in exactly the same plane. They seem to last great even when the conditions are not within their engineering tolerences. They are not free, but it's nice to install it and forget about it.

Hey Tim, what you have sounds to me like a Browning MORFLEX coupling. Try this link, they show all types of the Browning couplings so you can see if it's like what you have. Just about any good bearing supply house should be able to get you parts or a complete coupling if that's what you need. If they don't carry Browning stuff, then they should be able to tell you who does. Hope this helps. Wayne

That doesn't sound like a lovejoy coupler. I have seen this on the HYD Pump drive on our 5610 Ford tractors with Tiger hydraulic driven side mower decks as well as on the Tiger boom axe. It has four rubber gromets and a splined hub in the center. It's a pretty comon way to drive an accessory pump.Find a dealer that carries Tiger mower parts or do a search for Tiger mowers.

Any hardware or farm store worth thier salt will carry lovejoy couplings. That is the correct description, two metal pieces with an + shaped rubber piece in the middle.

I worked on my uncles tractor, also a 841 Ford with a loader on it and had to replace this part. Picked up that one at the Ford tractor dealership, you might check there? Always a first choice on working on anything, to check with the dealer first, then if the price scares ya, then look around.

My dear Miss Grundy, I sometimes think love is wasted on all of those married folk.

Psst. Want me to show you a picture of my pretty blue tractor?

Back to the topic of Love/Joy, my neighbor is springing a surprise on his wife. When she gets up Wednesday morning she will be thinking it like any other day---that she will be heading off to work. On the contrary, her husband has secretly booked passed to Puerto Rico for a get away surprise.

Due to some health issues they had to cancel their anniversay trip last year to Tahiti. This is a make up trip.

I'll be caring for their place while they are gone. I'm thinking party. Anyone interested? Just teasing.

Anyway, this is a great couple, married since their teens. Isn't love grand? I've known them for nearly 22 years and have always held them in high esteem.

sounds like a more-flex coupling (morse company?) i think the little cheap love joy coupling is in so many places that some people call any coupling a love joy. don't get me wrong the cheap coupling is ok in its place.

It doesn't sound like a true love-joy. Any how I does sound like what I have on my 801 and my 8N and I get the replace ment parts at my local tractor dealer. That set up is very common for ford tractors with loaders, if its like what I have it also has a splined shaft that goes in the part that bolts to the crank pully and should be around 8-12 inch long. I have to replace them about every pther year costs around $60 for the whole thing

I'm thinking you've got it right. The last replacement has lasted four years so far. And then I had to replace them cussed parts half way out of a basement excovation. I found myself in possitions I hadn't thought possible.

Many Industrial Supply houses sell Lovejoy couplings if that is the brand it is. If your local Industrial Supply doesn't have it they will have a McMaster Carr catalog and they also sell them. Good luck,,,,, ,,,,,

My local bearing supply house carries these drive couplings. Lovejoy is a brand, and there are others that make drive couplings. The rubber piece in the center is commonly referred to as the "spider". Good Luck in your search!
