Have any of you used Martin -Senour green paint for a J.D. tractor , I saw it at the local Farmers-Co-Op
for $21.99 per gallon ( it had a label that said it was for J.D.'s ). Also how much paint would it take to paint a J.D. model " A " or a model " 60 " ? Thanks in advance for your reply

i think i would check and see if it is ag paint or automotive, from the price i would say it is ag paint as it is awful cheap.use the automotive it will cost a quite a bit more but you won't have to paint it again for some time.

You are correct it says for Ag. implements and J.D. Tractors. Its been years ago since I did some painting ( products and procedures have drastictly changed over the years ) and thats why I wanted to find out what to do from you men, I am going to follow your advice as I want to do a job that will be pleased with and will hold up. In my 72 years I have found that it is much easier to do a job right the 1st. time than have to go back again. When there is something that I don't know about, it doesn't embarrase me to ask some one who does. Thanks to all of you

Use John Deere paint if you are going to keep the tractor for very long.

You might check with your deere dealer their paint isnt much more and it will be exactly the right color. I have used other brands and still go back to deere. I would use some hardener in it to. Remember with the addition of hardener you should wear a good charcoal mask and be sure to clean your gun up good after. Dont put the paint with hardener back in your unused paint.Good luck with whatever you use.

Just a word of warning a charcoal filter will not remove the harmful vapors, an air suppied respirator is the only protection approved. Lung damage from the vapors is not reversable be safe.

Should take a gallon. Probably sraight enamel and you may want to use some hardener. Should have thinner (reducer) for it too. Stay with the Martin Senour chemistry.
