Looked at three different loaders recently and each one had an arm bent on it. What are these guys doing to bend these arms. Used one in my youth and abused it pretty good and never bent one.

Using a loader on a tractor when a high lift or dozer is needed (my dad is the worlds worst (and I'm probably 2nd))

A neighbor of mine lost his trailer with his tractor on it. The tractor and trailer hit a tree and bent the loader up as well as ripping the bucket off the loader. I guess that is one way to bend it up.

Basically, trying to make a 5 ton machine do the work of a 10 ton machine. I think in the farm end it would be trying to pull out a stump with one corner of the bucket, and if that don't get it, run at her a few times!
In my excavating bus., it always bugs me when I send a D8 operator out to final grade with a JD 550 dozer and He's pushing so hard the dirt is running over the blade and the tracks are spinning. Like the other post said; I too know of people that could wrek an anvil with a feather!

I think most get bent by poor angle of attack when driving into a pile of whatever is being loaded without consideration of the impact or weight.

When the front edge of the bucket is angled too far down on an uneven approach, the power and weight of the tractor is on one side. The arm is strongest in compression, but this angle shifts the force to a twist and the weakest point.

I wrecked a brand new loader in 1993 because the company made two small errors. The loader was ordered and the dealer wanted it built and on the tractor for a fair in 10 days. Because of the short time frame two braces were not put on the loader and because they were out of the proper sized lift cylinders they put a larger size on. The first time I used the loader it folded like an accordion.

All you have to do is put too small a loader on a bigger tractor and you can push the bucket right up against the front wheels, its really bad if you have a front wheel drive.

I saw one at a dealer last spring that was bent and twisted badly. The dealer said the tractor it was on rolled over a couple of times.

I've never bent one either but I have broken a few and had to weld them back. I think to bend one you would have to be in a high gear and hit a tree or something

I know of a tractor with bent arms on it. My uncle hit something as he was plowing snow last winter , and come right off the seat. Half way down his driveway , the blade caught on something , and stopped the tractor dead , engine and all. The results: Bent loader arms. About 8 - 10 years ago , I hit that same thing while plowing the same driveway. It also stalled my tractor , and threw me off the seat. My loader arms didn't bend. We are both very carefull with our equipment. Niether one of us were traveling fast. To this day , we don't know what we hit. What ever it is , it's solid.
