I've bought, and sold a lot of used tractors and machinery, just been in the 'online thing' for about 3 years. I try no to buy so far that I cant go look. Have driven 6 hours, logged onto ebay with a buy it now and gone and paid the seller.

Not sure where you are located, surely their are used equipment dealers in your area who can sell you a tractor. For that matter I can sell you a tractor (almost everything I have is for sale). Lots of them out there, not saying you cant get a bargain several hours away but..... .....

If you are within a decent drive central KY email me. There are several reputable dealers and farmers that I can give you numbers, also try Fastline for your area (I buy a lot out of there) and Farm Week out of Indiana. I like to buy something right, use it for 2-3 years and resell, it is not a game to play for the faint of heart or novices.

Some people are complete liars and I wouldn't think of buying something without looking it over and trying it first, because chances are you will get burned. I have had people tell me they have a very nice _____(fill in the blank) thats in perfect condition and well worth what they are asking, only to drive a heck of a ways to find out it's a piece of junk. You wouldn't believe how convincing some people are with their lies. Another thing, pictures never capture good detail, so a tractor can look ten times better than it actually is in a photo, and notice most everybody likes to take pictures of their stuff when its wet, so the weathered paint looks ten times better than it actually is and the weather checked tires will look like new ones, etc... and I've seen alot of old equipment sprayed with oil so it looks better at public auctions. Noting is better than actually being there and carefully checking it over yourself.

I have bought several tractors off the internet and after buying one with out seeing it first I learned my lesson. I now go and look at it and if I want it bring it home. I have driven several hours away and came back with an empty trailer and my money. I would think most of the time you would get what you paid for but one time will teach you not to do it again. Good luck.

Not to contradict the nasayers above, and while you can't beat looking a piece of equipment over, it's just like buying a used car or anything else. You are looking at what the seller wants you to see. On the other hand, I've been buying and selling on ebay for over a year now, and have yet to buy anything that was not exactly as the seller had advertised. I'm not saying that I won't get took some day, but we all have to have a little faith in people or we just need to shut our doors and stay inside. There are bargains out there for the discerning buyer if you lo9ok over the pictures of a piece of equipment and you like what you see, email the seller for more detailed information and pictures and chances are you will be allright. Just my thoughts. Harley
