one thing to remember when going down a hill, the 302 will freewheel on the low side, that is when using the lo side it will coast and the engine will not hold it back, found out the hard way. no one was hurtbut the guy on the hayrack was ready to bailoff.

MM made some of the best engines and tractors of
their era. They were long stroke slow turners that
led to long life. The LPG models because of the clean burning fuel last hours and hours with good
maintance. Just because a company went out of
business or merged doesn't mean their products
were not superior. Clearly a Pierce-Arrow or a
Packard were superior to a Ford or Chevrolet. As
to the U-302, it was a well made tractor in the
50-55 hp range. Came with an Ampli-Torc trans to
give 10 speeds for multi-use. Should be able to
find most any part, but it won't be as easy as
getting parts for a more common tractor.

Yup, they made diesels to go with gas and LPG.
The older diesels, say early to late 50s, are a
little hard to get parts for, but most of their
stuff from the 60s till the end in 1975 can still
be had pretty easily. The U-302 should be a very
reliable and easy to use tractor. Keep in mind
that it is from the mid to late 60s, so it can't
be fairly compared to todays tractors for ease
of operation. Good luck with it if you buy.
