I have a Ford 2000 tractor without a service manual and wanted to change the oil filter but I was having trouble locating the filter. Also need a new battery, I had to jumpstart it last week. Does anybody know if it takes a 6 or 12 volt

For most practicle purposes it is safe to figure all FORD DIESELS were 12 volt negative ground. Since you say it is a 73 model it would be a 3 cylinder model - I believe the engine oil filter is a spin on located left side of the block about half way back below the center line - behind the radius rod.

Thanks for the info. Being in NC I neglected to do much winterizing and the battery lost its charge. It did start after using some cables to a car battery but would not hold a charge
